DYNAMIC FEEDBACK OPTIONS, PODCASTING HIGHLIGHT RE-ENVISIONED THE PEOPLE'S PHARMACY SITE
The People's Pharmacy Unveils a Redesigned Web Site that Features Expanded Podcasting Capabilities, Improved Reporting Options and Enhanced Commenting Features
Durham, N.C., August 7, 2008—In an effort to help foster better health awareness by reaching an even broader audience, The People's Pharmacy has added dynamic podcasting, feedback and reporting capabilities to its redesigned site. The People's Pharmacy is seeking to boost its Internet presence by adapting a new look and dramatically improving its online feature set.
Bolstered by a loyal, consistent group of visitors to its 3-year-old Web site, The People's Pharmacy has steadily built a community of knowledgeable, invested people who share thoughts, experiences and insights on a host of health topics. Now, this community will enjoy additional feedback options, including the ability to vote on which articles are the most helpful, subscribe to topics and receive notification of new articles within that topic and reply directly to comments by other readers. Visitors can also create an account with photographs and other information they'd like to share, post to new member forums, join member groups and buddy lists centered around shared interests, and even create their own blog.
This functionality even placed The People's Pharmacy on the national stage recently. Late last year, MSNBC reported that consumer complaints to The People's Pharmacy about generic versions of the anti-depressant drug Wellbutrin helped lead to testing that called into question the effectiveness of these generic drugs. The situation provided concrete proof that additional reporting features that allow users to better share personal experiences can dramatically benefit others.
Users can also stay updated on the latest health developments with podcasting offerings that are designed to assist in spreading the health message of The People's Pharmacy co-founders Joe and Terry Graedon. The Graedons one-hour, syndicated radio show can now be downloaded right online, giving users the power to catch up on information and opinions on drugs, herbs, home remedies, vitamins and related health topics. Visitors can also download three- to five-minute audio files that contain health news updates that touch on issues concerning pharmacies, breakthrough drugs, remedies and the FDA.
Pharmacologist Joe Graedon and medical anthropologist Terry Graedon are the co-authors of the best-selling “The People’s Pharmacy” series of books and write a widely distributed, syndicated newspaper column. Their popular “The People’s Pharmacy” show is heard weekly on hundreds of radio stations, including public radio, the In Touch Networks, TalkStar and HealthStar. The Graedons believe that care, compassion and fairness should guide people's ability to make informed decisions about their health.
